ME.     Hello, God, it’s me again! I just wanted a word with You. You see, I’m a bit upset about what Jane did to me this morning....... I’m sure You saw every last detail, but I’ll tell You anyway.......... Are You listening?....... Well, I assume You are, because doesn’t Your Word say that Your ear is ever open unto our cry?...  It’s like this........ Hello?

GOD.   I can’t hear you.

ME.     Oh, sorry, I’ll say it again, it’s about what Jane did....

GOD.   I can’t hear you.

ME.      (louder) Should I say it a bit louder?

GOD.   No, that won’t be necessary. Just tell me, what does My Word say about prayer?

ME.      Errm. Well, I know I’ve to come with a thankful heart, and I do! I’m really grateful for all You’ve done for me.

GOD.   What else?

ME.      Well, my heart has to be clean as well, and to be honest, I can’t think of any sin that’s fouling things up at the moment. I’ve not done anything wrong, it’s that Jane!

GOD.    If you’re right and Jane’s wrong, what do you need to do about it?

ME.      Excuse me?

GOD.   Talk to her about it and then forgive.

ME.      You’re kidding!

GOD.   Am I? Remember what I said – if you don’t forgive others their sins, then I can’t forgive your sins

ME.     But You didn’t mean that, surely? Hello? Hello? Are You there?......... Oh, I remember now! When You told the disciples to forgive not seven times, but seventy times seven times, they said “Lord, increase our faith!” I always thought that was a bit strange, but I know why they said that, now. It’s because it’s hard!.......... How about if I try?....... Hard?........ Lord, I’m willing...... I think..... Lord, increase my faith............ I think I’ll ring Jane up, tomorrow.......... Maybe this afternoon..... I’ll give her a call, now!      (Exit)
