I long to run to You
To throw my arms around You
- and squeeze.
To hold You so tight,
That the letting go would take eternity
I want to bury my head
Deep in Your chest
- and inhale.
To catch your scent,
Be overwhelmed by Your Being
I try to hide this fallenness
To cover myself
- in Your reflection.
But immersed in my selfishness
I play dress-ups with Your righteousness
Alas, I am but a fractured image
Caught in Your Kingdom of yet
- and yet not.
A lifetime becomes too short a breath,
To complete Your restoration.
Names of power beget fear
Yet words of grace arrest my flight
- hope bestirs
Held in Your heartbeat I remain,
till I know You in full, just as I am fully known.
