A Prayer

Lord, let me hear Your voice,
in the birdsong, in the flowing river,
in the silence of night in the countryside,
in the laughter of children.

Lord, let me see Your guiding light,
in a winter sunrise, in the written Word,
in the love of a friend that is true,
in every opportunity for change.

Lord, let me feel Your power,
in a thunderstorm at sea, in the autumn leaves,
in the growing old of my father,
in the birth of a kitten.

Lord, let me know Your will for me,
in every quiet moment, in every new face encountered,
in tenderness following pain,
in the memory of how You have shaped me.

Lord, let me live Your love for all,
in a song that makes me cry, in gentle death,
in every way You make my life beautiful,
in helping someone to see You as You are.
