Jane:        What is taking our teacher so long?  I want to get class going.
Bob :         She’s probably still drinking her coffee…
Jim:          What’s the hurry, Jane?
Jane:         After class I am going home and helping my parents decorate our tree for Christmas.
Heather:    I just love Christmas
Nick :        Me too, I love the presents.
Sara:         I love the singing..
Bob:          I love the candy.
Nick : I love the presents.
Justin:       I love opening and then playing with the presents.
Emily:       I love giving presents.
Sara:        You do not.
Emily:     How do you know?
Sara:  Cause I am your sister and you NEVER give me a present!
Emily:     Oh yeah…..
Laura:  I love singing Happy Birthday.
Nick:    Does someone in your family have a Christmas birthday?   Man, what a bummer.  I bet they get gypped on presents.
Emily :  They do????
Laura :  No, at my house we always sing Happy Birthday to Jesus.
Justin: (in a slang voice)   Whatcha talking about Laura?
Laura:   It is Jesus birthday you know.
Emily : It is??????
Sara:   Hello dummy,  that is the whole point of Christmas.   It is the day we celebrate the day Jesus was born.
Jane : I guess I never really thought of it like that.  You always think of Christmas as Christmas, not a birthday.
Emily:   Then how come we don’t call it Happy Birthday.
Heather:   Maybe since it is Jesus’ birthday everyone thought it was the best birthday ever and should get a special name.
Jane:  I wonder how they came up with Christmas.
Justin:  I think I read in our books that Christmas really means “Christ’s Mass” in another language.
Jane:   That makes sense - what other language?
Nick:   Must be Portuguese.  My grandmother always says her prayers in Portuguese
Heather :  So anyone who was born on December 25th shares a birthday with Jesus - how amazing is that?
Laura:   The thing is, I don’t  think they know exactly when Jesus was born.   They think it was  some time close to December but I don’t think they have the real date.  We celebrate it on the 25th cause early Christians picked that day as it was the start of the Winter Solstice-a huge celebration and a great day for a celebration of our Savior.
Bob:   How old do you think Jesus would be today.
Jim:   I think he would be about 2000 years old, maybe more.
Emily :  Wow, that is even older than my grandpa Jerry!!!
Nick:  Do you think Jesus got presents on his birthday?
Emily:   Like Zoo Zoo Pets and Playstation?
Heather:  I doubt Playstation.
Nick : How about an X-box?  X-box is really cool.
Heather:  Do you want an X-box Nick?
Nick:   NO!    Well, maybe.  It is really cool you know.
Justin : Jesus is an adult now.  He would want adult things, like a Mercedes or a vacuum cleaner.
Heather :  I doubt Jesus’ would want a vacuum cleaner.
Jane:   I think Jesus would want us all to love him and love one another.
Bob:  And maybe Peace on Earth.
Sara:   Duh, if we love one another we’ll have Peace on Earth.
Jim:   I think he would want us to take care of the Earth - it was a present to us before from God the Father.
Laura   I think it is just another way Jesus is so awesome that it is his birthday and we get presents.
Emily:   Hey, I bet I know what Jesus would want for his birthday.   I think he would want every child to have a nice Christmas in honor of him.
Jane:  Maybe we could help.
Justin:   Every child- that’s a lot of kids.   Sounds like a job for Santa Claus.
Bob:  But we could help.   We could love one another and try to be at Peace and then maybe help get presents for other kids.
Jim:  So,  we could go to a store and pick out something we would like and give it to another kid- like at a birthday party- cool.
Emily:   See,   I told you I liked giving presents.
Teacher:   Sorry I’m late class.   I was picking up a surprise for you.
Bob:  Look  - it is a birthday cake!
Teacher :  Well, you know why we celebrate Christmas don’t you?
All:        It is Jesus’ Birthday!!!!!!!!!
Jane:    Won’t you all join us in singing Happy Birthday and helping us to celebrate the Best Birthday Ever by doing our part to make Jesus’ wishes come true.
(Candles lit.   All sing Happy Birthday.   Candles blow out on their own.  All students come out and yell Happy Birthday Jesus!!! )
Then all with Parish sing Joy to the World
