[EYE has a ‘superior’ tone;  FOOT has a more ‘common’ tone]

E:    Eye am an eye.
F:    And I’m a foot.
E:     And we both belong ...
F:    ... to the same body
E:    But Eye am more important.
F:    No you’re not.
E:     Yes Eye am.
F:    No you’re not  --  I am!
E:    YOU!!!!!      Eye am far superior to you!!! You are well beneath me!!  Eye am up here  --  and you  [pause, then distastefully] are down there!
F:    What’s that got to do with it?
E:    Ignorant as well as inferior! It shows that Eye have a much higher calling than you! And just consider my design! You know what a camera is, I suppose?
F:    [indignantly]   I’m not stupid, you know!
E:    No.   [Pause, then distastefully] Just so low!!!
Consider the camera’s complicated design  --  lenses, shutters,  all sorts of parts. And Eye am far  more complex than that! Eye give the body light. Eye give it vision and sight. Eye enable it to see in colour  -- to focus on everything in creation;  to read, to discover, to do all manner of things.  [Pause] And what, pray, do you do?

F:    [overcome by Eye’s list of abilities] Well ... I ... I ... I ...
E:    [interrupting sarcastically] All you do is stand there  [pause -- then with mirth]  and sweat!!    You even have to have ‘odour eaters’ put under you to stop you smelling revolting!!!   [Laughs] And as for those five funny looking things stuck on the end  --  well     -- need Eye say more?!!
F:    [recovering and fighting back]    Yes, you do need to say more, [mimicking] Miss Eye and Mighty! If you were so clever, you’d know that toes give balance to the body  --  and without them and me, you’d be flat on your eye-lids!
E:    [trying to intervene] Now just a minute ...
F:    [interrupting forcefully] No -- you just wait a minute! I haven’t finished!
E:    [taken aback] Eye say ...
F:    [interrupting] That’s just your trouble -- you’ve got too much to say! If it wasn’t for me,  you wouldn’t be able to go anywhere! I take the weight of this whole body, and,  because of me it can go places --  because of me,  you can see all that’s around. If it wasn’t for me, your vision would be limited.
E:    [reflectively] Eye see.
F:    You’re right -- you do see! That’s your skill -- that’s your contribution to the body.   And it’s time you stopped looking down on me and my abilities.
[Pause]
E:    Eye owe you an apology.
F:    [mimicking] And eye accept it!
E:    Let’s start this again.
F:    OK by me! After you!
[Pause]
E:    Eye am an eye.
F:    And I’m a foot.
E:    And we both belong ...
F:    ... to the same body.
[Pause, then together while looking at each other]
And we’re both as important as each other!!
