Script

(Two friends are wrapping the last of their presents at a table. A pile or wrapped gifts lies on the floor beside them.)
Shawn:    This is going to be a great Christmas. I’m feeling more and more like Santa every minute.
(Shawn puts on a funny Christmas hat.)
Terry:    You sure do have some nice gifts there. I can’t believe you found a ring that was actually worn by Elvis. Mavis will absolutely flip.
Shawn:    I found it on eBay. You wouldn’t believe the stuff they have there. They were selling the actual Star Trek tribbles.
Terry:    Really? Mike is a trekki, that’d be the best gift, ever, for him.
Shawn:    Yeah, but those little bits of fluff were way beyond my price range. I got him a phaser instead. They had a lot more buttons and were a lot less pricey. Now Mike will go around happily stunning people and vaporizing enemies.
Terry& Shawn:  And loving it.
Shawn:    You got some pretty high tech gifts there yourself.
Terry:    I sure do. Those lines on Black Friday were worth it this year. I got some excellent gifts to give. I can’t wait to see how my gifts are received.
Shawn:    Me, either. This is almost more fun than receiving presents.
Terry:    I wonder if that’s how God felt.
Shawn:    What are you talking about?
Terry:    Well, God gave us the greatest gift of all. Do you think He was looking forward to us receiving it?
Shawn:    You mean the ½ off sale at Best Buy? That was really a blessing.
Terry:    No silly. He gave us a much better gift, one that lasts forever.
Shawn:    Not like that iPod I got through that internet store? It only lasted a week. The guy said that I should have read the 10 page release of liability that was on the website. I didn’t get a penny back.
Terry:    Well God’s gift has a more than a lifetime guarantee.
Shawn:    More than a lifetime? Nobody writes a guarantee like that, not even if you buy an extended warranty.
Terry:    God does, and it’s written right here: John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Shawn:    What‘s the price?
Terry:    Ephesians 2:8 says it is the gift of God. God gave us Jesus and He paid the price for us all. He died for our sins, so that we could live forever.
Shawn:    WOW? Now, that is quite a gift.
    (A parent and child enter.)
Terry:    The Greatest Gift, EVER. Hey Look! It’s our turn to start giving. Look who’s coming.
(Shawn hands a gift to the child.)
Shawn:    Merry Christmas! Here’s a gift for you.
Parent:    Thank you.
(The child responds however the child wants to. All exit.)
