Script

Narrator: This skit is about the morning routine of three sisters. Each is faced with similar situations on a daily basis. Let’s look at how they respond on this Friday morning:

It’s 6:00 A.M. and the alarm clock has just gone off at the home of Busy Beatrice…

FX: (Clock alarm)

Beatrice: My Lord, it seems as if I just went to sleep. I have so many things to do today.

Voice: Beatrice!

Beatrice: Oh, (kneels briefly) Good Morning Lord! You know my schedule today. I just don’t know how I’m going to fit it all in. But I know you will help me as I have so much work to do for You. In Jesus Name - Amen (Gets up) I just love my prayer time with the Lord - people don’t know what they are missing when they don’t start the day with prayer.

(Picks up note pad and writes) Now the first thing I have to do is my To Do List. Mmmm, let’s see….I have to clean the house again today. I know I cleaned it yesterday, but cleanliness is next to Godliness. I also have to wax those floors. The saints are coming over for dinner this week. You know the Bible says that a woman should be given to hospitality. Oh yes, I have to go to the stores to price favors for the Missionary program. You know I have to get You the best deal, Lord. I have to pick the children up from school, run Justine to piano lessons, pick Charlie up from Soccer, and then I have to go see about getting into part one of that Adult Education course at the college. It’s just a few Wednesday night courses. Of course, the part two courses are held on Wednesday and Friday, but I know You will work something out. I’ve got faith. Now, have I forgotten anything…

Voice: What about Me, Beatrice?

Beatrice: Oh yes Lord, I have time for You. Let me just put "Bible Reading" on this list.

FX: (Telephone rings)

Beatrice: (Picks up phone) Hello? (Pause) Sorry, I can’t talk to you right now. I have got to read my Bible. Got to start the day right. (Hangs up phone) Now where is my One-Minute Devotion Bible? (Sits down to read)

Voice off: Mom, can you help me finish my homework?

Beatrice: (stands up with her open Bible. Hesitates)

FX: (knock, knock)

Beatrice: (turns, closes Bible and begins to walk off) Be Right There…Lord, I just don’t know why I have so much to do. It seems as if everyone needs me. (Exits)

FX: (Faint knock, knock)

Narrator: At the home of Minimum Minnie, the alarm clock is going off.

FX: (Alarm clock)

Minnie: Oh, where is that snooze button. (Hits button and rolls back over)

FX: (Knock, knock)

(Minnie puts pillow over her head) (Pause)

Narrator: 15 minutes later....

FX: (Alarm clock)

(Minnie hits button again)

FX: (Knock, knock)

Voice: Minnie, I just want to talk to you.

Minnie: I’ll just lay here and pray…Jesus, Jesus (fainter, until she begins snoring.)

Narrator: 30 minutes later.

FX: (Alarm clock)

Minnie: (hits button and opens her eyes.) All right already, I’m up. I have got to get to bed earlier at night.

FX: (Telephone Rings)

Minnie: Where is my caller ID? Oh, it’s just Sister Swift. I’ll let the answering machine take a message. She’s too perky for me.

FX: (knock, knock)

Voice: Minnie!

Minnie: Oh yes, Lord . (She starts to fall to her knees, but sees the clock. Eyes wide now) Look at the time. Where did it go?

Voice: Minnie, it’s your turn to do the dishes.

Minnie:Yes, I’ll do them after work. I’m running late. Okay. I have to find something to wear that doesn’t need ironing, fix my breakfast, fix my lunch, and get out of here.

FX: (knock, Knock)

Voice: Minnie!

Minnie: Yes Lord, I have got to read my Bible today. (She looks around) Here it is, My Daily Bread. Let me just grab a Scripture out of here – Oh yes, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Well, thank you Jesus. That is just what I needed. (She stands up, rushes around to get ready – finally stops to look in the mirror) Oh Lord, help me as You helped the ten lepers…As They Went! (walks off)

Narrator: Now we come to the house of Pressing Priscilla…It’s 6:00 a.m.

FX: (Alarm)

Priscilla: Good Morning, Lord!

FX: (knock, knock)

Voice: Priscilla!

Priscilla: (falls to her knees) Thank you, Jesus, for another day, for keeping me, for loving me, for sustaining me throughout the night. Lord, You know I’m tired in body- we stayed out late setting up for the Bazaar last night. I wish more had showed to help. But thank you for the wonderful fellowship we had while we worked. But Lord, You know I need you to strengthen me this day. I am totally dependent upon You to bring me through this day. Lead me, Guide me, let me be a witness for You. My family needs my support today, I have these meetings on the job today, I’m coordinating the refreshments at church tonight. Help me Lord. I don’t want to fail You. I don’t want to fail the people I love. As I go out today, give me Your peace, that above all I might keep my mind stayed on You Lord …In Jesus Name - Amen.

(As Priscilla gets up voices off stage began to call her.)

Little girl: Mom, Sally keeps bothering me.

Man: Honey, where’s my lunch?

Priscilla:Your lunch is in the refrigerator dear, I made it last night. George, Sally you know this is mom’s Bible reading time, if it isn’t an emergency it can wait until I’m finished. (As she goes back to reading the Bible – the telephone rings) Hi! Are you all right? Good. I’m in the middle of something important, I’ll call you back later. (Hangs up phone. Sits down and picks up Bible.) Help me to keep my mind on You, Lord!
